Background

Mark is a partner of the US Tax Consulting group in PwC China. He joined PwC China, Shanghai in 2012 and worked in PwC New York office from 2018 to 2020. He has over eleven years experience in providing US tax consulting services to multinational and local clients in Hong Kong and Mainland China.

Relevant experiences

Mark’s areas of specialisation include US corporate and partnership taxation with a focus on the outbound and inbound transactions, specially on tax due diligence, merge & acquisition, and tax planning. Mark advises clients in various industries including financial services, investment management, manufacturing and technology.

Mark has extensive experience of providing US tax consulting services on the SPAC transactions and assisted several SPAC merge & acquisition transactions in different industry in recent two years. Mark also has great experience for providing US tax consulting services for financial institutions and on-shore and off-shore private equity funds in the fund structuring and tax planning during the fund raising stage. He has also advised fund management and US individual, institutional, and tax-exempt investors to achieve optimal tax planning.

Mark is also an expert in US FATCA and CRS initiative and implementation in China, the Cayman Island and Hong Kong. He has had extensive discussions with major financial institutions in China regarding FATCA and CRS. He helped them understand the impact of FATCA and CRS on their regional and global businesses. He has also coordinated with PwC Global Firm in providing assistance to the branches of global financial institutions in China for their FATCA and CRS implementation.

Qualifications

Mark earned his Bachelor of Science in Accountancy from the Ohio State University in Columbus. He is a US Certified Public Accountant licensed with the State of Illinois.
